The Atlantic Immigration Program places you on a direct path permanent residence. It is for skilled foreign workers and international graduates of a Canadian institution who wish to work and live in 1 of Canada’s 4 Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador. This opportunity requires a jo offer from a qualified employer.
Qualified Work Experience (for workers only)
- In the last 5 years, you must have worked at least 1,560 hours. This is the number of hours you would have worked in 1 year if you were working 30 hours per week.
Job offer (for workers and graduates)
The employer’s job offer must be:
- Full time
- Non-seasonal/temporary (non-seasonal)
- Minimum 1 year duration (one year from the date of permanent residence)
Differences for Graduates
You do not need to meet the work experience requirements if you are an international graduate who:
- holds a degree, diploma, certificate, or trade or apprenticeship certification that
- took at least 2 years of study
- is from a recognized post-secondary institution in 1 of the 4 Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador)
- lived in one of the following provinces for at least 16 months during the last 2 years before graduating
