The Global Talent Stream is part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). The principal applicant obtains an Employer-Specific Work Permit (i.e. a Closed Work Permit for a Specific Employer) valid for three years. IELTS and CELPIP are not required.
The spouse or common-law partner can apply for an Open Work Permit.
Through the GTS, employers can hire migrant workers with dedicated skills to fill positions that could not be filled locally. Applicants can be from anywhere and the LMIA is processed faster (10 days) in a simpler manner.
The employer must submit a Labour Market Benefits Plan and manage the WP application fee of $1,000 CND.
Applicants can obtain a pathway to Permanent Residence after one year of work experience, under the Canadian Experience Class (Express Entry).
Occupations – Category A
NOC A: Professionals such as doctors, dentists, engineers, architects, etc.
NOC 0: Managers (restaurants, mines, etc.) senior managers
- Employer must be recommended by GTS Designated Partners to verify eligibility and legitimacy
- Primary applicant must have a unique and specialized talent including an advanced degree or five (5) years of experience in the field
- Minimum wage $38.46 per hour and no less than $80,000 per year
NOC B: Occupations related to computing and digital media, including technical jobs and skilled trade jobs requiring a diploma. Salaries under Category B, employers must offer the hourly wage rate as a minimum, references on Job Bank, LinkedIn, Monster, Indeed.
