Caregiver Program: Permanent Residence for Caregivers

Those who provide care to the elderly, to children, and to those in need can apply for permanent residence in Canada. There are two main categories: the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot. Through work experience in Canada, this program grants permanent residence.
Home Child Care Provider Pilot
- For those who provide caregiver services to children at home. This program requires two years of relevant work experience within Canada. You apply for a work permit with an eligible employer, and then permanent residence after the work period is complete.
Program requirements
- You must have a valid job offer for the work permit. Using this work experience, you must complete the mandatory two year program. You must meet the minimum language requirement of CLB 5. You must also have a one year post-secondary degree,
Home Support Worker Pilot
- For those who provide caregiver services to seniors and those in need. This program requires two years of relevant work experience within Canada. You apply for a work permit with an eligible employer, and then permanent residence after the work period is complete.
