Contact AMIGRAR and a professional will provide you with the appropriate information about what conditions apply, requirements, processing times, which countries may have IEC visa extension, updates, fees, and obligations. We will advice you how to meet all those conditions, also we will support you on how to properly fill out your application.

The International Experience Canada – IEC has been created for youths who may want to work while travelling across Canada.

The IEC allows the international youths to travel and work for up to 2 years in Canada, getting experience that may be useful for them to pursue other future applications.

Citizens of countries with a bilateral Youth Mobility Arrangement with Canada who are between the ages of 18 and 35 may be eligible for IEC work permits

Work permits issued under IEC are exempt from the requirement for a LMIA!!!

(For general info, the LMIA is a special assessment used by Canada to evaluate if an international worker is actually needed and explore if instead the available position could be filled with a local citizen or permanent resident. Many see the LMIA as an instrument to impeding the arrival of foreign workers that may affect workers in Canada)

According to IRCC, there are 3 different kinds of work and travel experiences available:

For the Working Holiday Visa, travellers don’t need to have a valid job offer, and can change of employer whenever they are able to, and their employers can be in different provinces or territories across Canada.

For the Young Professionals Visa, they need a valid job offer and they get a specific-employer work permit. Young Professionals must remain with the same employer during their stay in Canada.

For the International Co-op Internship, is for current post secondary students outside Canada. They need a job offer for a placement experience (internship) valid to complete their studies. They need to remain with the same employer during their stay in Canada.
