A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) may be available, if you meet the conditions, including having finished your studies at a designated Canadian institution!

As we said before, these students must have completed their study program, and if they apply and obtain a PGWP, then they can work (according to paragraph 186(w) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, IRPR), and if they do so for a full year and full-time, in a listed job and with their valid PGWP, they could eventually obtain recognition of their work experience in Canada, and apply for permanent residence under one of the three programs that Express Entry has: The so-called Canadian Experience Class.

Previously, students must meet the following criteria:

  • They are or were holders of a valid study permit at the time of the PGWP application.
  • They were full-time students and were enrolled in a DLI (Designated Learning School) and in a post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training program.
  • They were authorized to work during their studies and never exceeded the permitted working hours.

If they meet these requirements, then they could be eligible to obtain a PGWP work permit, open in this case, meaning they can work for different employers, and gain valuable Canadian work experience.

Contact us and a consultant duly authorized by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) representing AMIGRAR Immigration Consulting will offer you the professional advice necessary for your PGWP application.
